Big Truck Rolls Through Minnesota

7-25-06 (AP) St. Paul A large semitrailer truck carrying a heavy load will be making its way slowly across Minnesota over the next few days as it delivers a a large industrial dryer to an ethanol plant in Richardton, N.D.

The huge load is about 200 feet long, 18 feet wide, almost 15 feet high and weighs about 450,000 pounds. It’ll take up almost two lanes of a freeway, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.

The average truck load is 80,000 pounds.

MnDOT said the truck will travel west on Interstate 94, north on Interstate 694 around the Twin Cities metro area and then west across the state on I-94.

The truck will travel only between midnight and 5 a.m. to minimize traffic disruptions. The State Patrol will provide an escort for the vehicle as it moves through the state.

Drivers were advised to keep back and drive cautiously if they encounter the vehicle.
